Mercury Free Rectal Glass Thermometer

Today, most hospitals and many states prohibit the use or sale of mercury thermometers due to their toxicity and environmental concerns. The Geratherm® glass thermometers, however, are made with a non-toxic substitute for mercury trademarked as Galinstan® (for more information on Galinstan, please see our MSDS). Extensive studies were conducted by the Hygiene Institute at the University of Tubingen in Germany regarding the safety of human exposure to the Galinstan alloy. No adverse reaction occurred whether the alloy was ingested, aspirated or applied to the skin.
